On the recommendation of French Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, the French President has decided to appoint Guillaume Désanges as Director of the Palais de Tokyo

Guillaume Désanges (born 1971) is a Paris-based curator and art critic. He founded Work Method – an independent agency for curatorial projects – and organises exhibition projects and lectures throughout the globe. He was named artistic director of the Salon de Montrouge in 2021.

Between 2001 and 2007, he coordinated the artistic projects of the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers – an independent contemporary art and creation space located in the suburbs of Paris. He was a member of the editorial board of Trouble Magazine, and furthermore collaborated with the Exit Express and Exit Book magazines (Madrid), and in the past he has taught classes at the School of Fine Arts of Paris-Cergy, the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the Lyon School of Fine Arts. He also conceived and curated La Méthode Room, a residency program in Chicago.

He developed several original projects (including the project 24h Foucault organised with Swiss artist Thomas Hirschhorn, at the Palais de Tokyo in 2004, as well as Childs Play at Iasi, Romania; Seoul, South Korea; Stockholm, Sweden; Amsterdam, Netherlands; New York, USA; Toronto, Canada, 2008-2010) and performed conferences which have toured internationally (A History of Performance in 20 minutes, The Dark Side of the Form, Signs and Wonders, Vox Artisti – its master’s voices, Art = an History of Violence) and curated several international exhibitions in France and abroad. He was a guest curator at the Plateau-FRAC Ile-de-France between 2009 and 2011, where he curated the program Erudition Concrète. He was the artistic director of La Verrière, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès’ exhibition space, located in Brussels, since 2013.
